Upcoming Product Changes

PolarView 3.0 is being readied for release in the near future. The next version will bring changes to product licensing, and these are the changes we hope you’ll like.

PolarView will be free to install and use, and that includes chart viewer, route and waypoint planning, live navigation, AIS, NMEA instruments, GRIB display and more.

To access optional online services, such as chart, GRIB and POI downloads, users will need an account and a subscription.

In preparation for upcoming changes current order page has been taken offline. More information will be posted on this blog and support forums in the near future. Stay tuned!

  1. Will the new version work with Active Captain?

Yes, it will. All capabilities available in current version will continue to be available.

Thanks for all your work on Polar View and Active Captain! We’ve used ‘Polar View’ on a laptop aboard SHEARWATER for the past 4-5 trips ‘south’ from the Chesapeake Bay to the Abacos. Since Polar View includes Active Captain info on the display, and both programs are easily updated, we ‘don’t leave home without it’!!

I look forward to the new version and eagerly await its arrival. As TJ and Kaye write, I too have depended on PolarView to guide me from Baltimore to Miami and back for three trips so far and look forward to several more. I use Polarview at home (on my iMac) to create routes, that I then transfer to the MacBook Pro at the Nav table (via Google Drive) and make adjustments as needed.

I’m glad to hear that you are still working on improving the program
