You mention “Support for SeaSmart and Actisense NMEA 2000 gateways”. We bought a NGW-1-USB recently (converts NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 with USB connector for laptop). It seems to work fine, so I’m wondering what was changed?

My buddy is on the boat with this equipment now, and I’m joining him in 4 days. I’ll take v1.9 with me.

This version adds support for NMEA 2000 sentences. SeaSmart and Actisense NGT-1 do not translate NMEA 2000 into NMEA 0183. Rather, they provide NMEA 2000 sentences essentially unchanged.

Removing the Routes from the free version is step back. I think you’ll lose potential customers by doing this rather than make them buy the license.

Let me just say that there is a distinct “free” product audience and it does not necessarily overlap in a meaningful way with “commercial audience”.

For now I am doing everything possible to maintain free functionality. At some point for practical reasons PolarView may have to become a purely commercial product.

I am using PolarView in night, is there any thoght on adding a dimming function. I have used PangoBright, but better if it cold be controlled in PolarView.

Is Polar Navy compatible with Windows 8

    • polarnavy says:

PolarView for Windows is a win32 binary which should run fine on Windows 8. That said, the only way to be sure is to have multiple user confirmation. We’ll know if there are issues once Windows 8 becomes more widely available.
