PolarView/PolarCOM Update

This is an intermediate maintenance release that fixes a few issues in version 1.0 of the product.

PolarView: show bearing/distance information when moving waypoint used in route.

PolarCOM: solves a number of serial port connectivity issues – if you had a problem making your GPS work with PolarCOM, this update should resolve it (or so I hope).

I love Polar View compared to others, the seamless integration between maps is great, but i have lots of questions. is there a forum anywhere to help?

It seems darn close to being perfect with a few basic functionality improvements!

As long as your GPS provides data in NMEA 0183 format (as do most GPS units) you will be able to use this data to display instrument information in PolarCOM. You will need to locate and install appropriate “serial port” drivers, usually supplied with your device. Contact me by email or post device details here if you need more help.

For the live navigation ship on a chart feature set in PolarView you will need to order a “Core Navigation” license. With the license installed, you can connect PolarView to PolarCOM and use live navigation functionality.
